Style synopsis: An excellent harp player who recorded under his own name and provided
accompaniment for many other artists (incl. Lonesome Sundown and Lightnin' Slim). His style was an
influence on, among others, Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Representative recordings:
Flyright CD 07, "Lazy Lester" - includes versions of some of his best-known Excello recordings.
His recent recordings (incl. "Harp and Soul") on Alligator are good, though not up to his Excello sides in
quality.
