►▼What is a VPS?
A physical server can run multiple virtual private servers (also called VPS or vServer). Each customer has one or more vServers, each one running its own copy of the operating system.
►▼How long will it take for my new VPS to become active?
The quick answer is: at most 24 hours.
If during normal business hours, your VPS will be generally created within an hour of being requested.
Outside of normal business hours, the time will vary depending on time of day.
►▼What is your 30-day money back guarantee?
Each of our web hosting plans carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.
If you are not completely satisfied with our services within the first 30 days of your contract, you will be given a full refund of the contract amount, excluding any overages.
All cancellations must be received in writing as per the deadlines indicated.
►▼How can I pay for my web hosting account?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover via Paypal. Paypal does not require clients to have an account with them to pay for your services.
If you do have a Paypal account, it is possible to pay directly from the bank account linked to your Paypal account.
►▼What is 24x7 emergency technical support for?
Computers and operating systems are not perfect and do crash. The last thing that you want is for your site to be down for any length of time.
Our Premium- and Enterprise-level accounts are designed to be as fault-tolerant as possible, including the ability to page a technician 24x7 through our web-based support system.
If the support system is not accessible, there are automatic means by which a technician is paged when a server goes down.
We monitor all our servers 24x7 by default, but this provides you with one more safety net in case your specific VPS happens to go down.
►▼How is bandwidth usage calculated?
We bill our clients for every byte that goes accord the IP assigned to them.
And, as scary as that sounds, at the time of this update (Feb 18, 2015), our largest client is using ~300GB of bandwidth per month, across 3 VPSs and one of our clients runs a small radio station on his VPS, consuming ~60GB of bandwidth per month.
In our experience, in the past 15+ years, is that you would *need* to be running an adult / warez site to see alot of traffic.
►▼Which VPS hosting platforms are available?
For our Standard Plans, the VPS runs on FreeBSD.
For our VirtualBox Plans, you choose. As long as there is an .ISO available to download that can be installed from, it is whatever platform you would like to have installed. This includes, but is not limited to cPanel, Ubuntu and CentOS
►▼Which packages are included with OS templates?
All of our Standard VPS plans are templated with a base operating system, fully configured mail server, web server and very basic PHP. From there, we tailor the VPS to the clients requirements.
If you wish to use Wordpress or Drupal, we will install the appropriate PHP modules.
If you wish to use Ruby on Rails, we will make sure the basic GEMs are available.
Anything not that is not already available, just ask, and we will get it installed for you.
►▼How do I add additional IP addresses? Is there an upgrade fee?
In order to add additional IPs, you would add a new VPS to your existing account, at a Starter level.
For those clients running a Standard VPS, adding an IP entails adding a new VPS to your account.
For those clients wishing to have more then one IP running on the same VPS, you would need to run a VirtualBox Plan, as our Standard VPS does not allow for having multiple IPs on the same VPS.
►▼Can I create mail accounts on my server? What software is included for mail?
Yes, as many as you would like. We do not charge per mailbox, but, as each mailbox does take up disk space, you may find that, over time, your available disk space is decreasing. If using POP3 instead of IMAP, that usually is not much of a problem, since normally you are downloading the emails and clearing the disk space from the server.
We provide our clients with Horde Webmail for our clients, as well as an anti-virus/spam system.
►▼What is your uptime guarantee?
Our uptime reflects what our data center provides:
- Datacenter Infrastructure: 99.982%
- Availability of Internal Data Network: 99.982%
- Availability of Internet Connection: 99.95%
See our infrastructure page for more details.
►▼What are customers expected to manage?
You can manage as much or as little of the VPS as you want. The more you customize the VPS, the more you are responsible for managing it.
Our clients experience range from novice to expert. We try to match our service level to meet your needs.
A customer support ticketing system is available for service requests.
A fair amount of VPS configuration and customization (i.e. adding virtual hosts, mailboxes, etc.) are available to customers through a web interface.
We expect you to bring a certain level of competency with any extra technologies you have installed. You are welcome to obtain the expertise of a third party, or directly work with us on what needs to be done. It is up to you to upload content, configure settings, etc.
